When I was thirteen I contracted Lyme disease from a tick bite and--due to its imaginative variety of symptoms and a relative unfamiliarity within the local medical community--it made its home in my body while I was misdiagnosed with a smorgasbord of pathologies--flu, arthritis, neurodegenerative disorders, you name it. After several months I was tested and treated, but the infection resulted in the loss of my kidneys and the rest, as they say, is history.
In May, I'll be playing a benefit show for the Oregon Lyme Disease Network, an organization dedicated to raising awareness in the medical community and to providing the afflicted with resources they need to access testing and treatment. Please join me.
